【Tracking of Case on March 17, 2021】The body weight of a 9-year and 6-month-old male tuxedo cat has increased to 7.25 kilograms. No tooth extraction was performed, no medication was used for control, and there has been no recurrence of stomatitis.

※We hope to have more cats with stomatitis participate in our hospital's "Clinical Treatment Research Project for Cats with stomatitis"(https://hellopeter.com.tw/content-81.html)

For the treatment process of this tuxedo cat, please refer to "the case of the tuxedo cat with successful MGRS treatment for stomatitis, despite no tooth extraction":https://hellopeter.com.tw/content-33.html

Dr. Chung-Wei Chen, the director of our hospital, has successfully treated cats using the innovative "Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS)", combining human dentistry and veterinary dentistry. Some of the successfully treated cases include:
Another case of stomatitis in an orange tabby cat cured with Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS) on February 3, 2021: https://hellopeter.com.tw/content-85.html
【Case Follow-up】An 11-month follow-up on a tabby male cat who underwent MGRS treatment after having partial mouth extraction, with no recurrence of stomatitis: https://hellopeter.com.tw/content-75.html

[The patient follow-up after 1 year] The black and white male cat weighed about 5.35 kg before the treatment and was about 7 years old when he first came to our hospital.

September 03, 2018
This chronic gingival stomatitis (FCGS) patient has tried many medical treatments before coming to our hospital, but the effect is not good. The whole gingiva and alveolar mucosa continue to be severely red, swollen and bleeding, and bad breath is very serious.  The patient is bullied by other cats in the family, the quality of life is extremely poor.

The owner hopes to retain the teeth of the cat, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen performed the unique Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS) for the patient. The treatment lasted for one and a half years. The treatment was suspended for one month due to the abnormal liver function, and subsequent treatments were started after the liver function returned to normal. The patient did not remove any teeth, use steroids and immunosuppressive drugs during the MGRS treatment.

March 18, 2020
After the MGRS treatment was over and antibiotics and analgesic drugs were stopped, the redness and swelling of the cat's mouth almost disappeared, there was no bad breath, the weight continued to rise to 6.65 kg, the color of the coat became more shiny, and the FCGS was cured.

March 17, 2021
After one year of the end of the MGRS treatment, the weight of the 9.5 years old black and white male cat has risen to 7.25 kg, without tooth extraction, no medication control, and no recurrence of FCGS.

Veterinary dentistry (or animal dentistry, pet dentistry) must update the concepts:
※ Dentistry is surgery
※ Tooth extraction is the last option. Save the patient's teeth as much as possible. Tooth extraction must be judged by the veterinarian
※ Cats who have undergone MGRS should pay more attention to the cleaning of their teeth and oral cavity, and brush their teeth
