After obtaining his Master's degree from National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), Dr. Chung-Wei Chen recognized the lack of formal veterinary dentistry training in Taiwan, therefore, he pursued further education in small animal dentistry and oral surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (PennVet) in the United States.
● In October 2016, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen becoming the first Taiwanese veterinarian to obtain the certificate of continuing education from the MJR Veterinary Hospital, University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia (PennVet) Dentistry & Oral Surgery Service
●On November 11, 2017, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen established 【HelloPeter Veterinary Hospital】, dedicated to promoting the concept that " veterinary dentistry is surgery," with the aim of raising awareness about oral hygiene for both humans and their animal companions.
●In February 2019, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen pioneered the Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS) for treating stomatitis in cats, he is the only veterinarian in the world to invent this technique and the only one to use it for treating feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS).
●In September 2019, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen began pursuing a Master&qpos;s degree in Oral Health Sciences at Kaohsiung Medical University, focusing on researching new methods for the treatment and prevention of oral and dental diseases in both humans and companion animals.
●In 2022, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen earned his Master&qpos;s degree of Oral Hygiene from Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU).
●In July 2023, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen successfully performed dental implants for cats and dogs, making him the only veterinarian in Asia with expertise in canine and feline dental implants.
●In September 2023, Dr. Chung-Wei Chen &qpos;s research on oral mucositis " VITAMIN D IMPROVES TREATMENT OF MUCOGINGIVAL REPLACEMENT SURGERY FOLLOWING ORAL MUCOSITIS BY ENHANCING AUTOPHAGY," was presented at the 48th World Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress and the 28th FECAVA Eurocongress (WSAVA 2023).
