【Veterinarian's Daily Struggle 3: If you can't ensure healing the sick, then why become a doctor!?】

With the prevalence of the internet today, owners often use convenient online platforms and social media to connect with veterinarians for quicker access to medical information. However, a single photo, video, or verbal description alone cannot replace genuine clinical diagnosis and problem-solving.。

Clinical Diagnosis (Problem Solving)

Medical History (History):

Physical Examination (PE):
Veterinarians use visual inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation, along with diagnostic tools, to deduce or rule out causes. Physical examination requires a hands-on approach for the accurate extraction and interpretation of information, starting from the first encounter.

Laboratory Tests (Lab Tests):
Various laboratory tests such as complete blood count (CBC), blood biochemistry, bacterial cultures, antimicrobial susceptibility tests, allergy testing, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), histppathology, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) are conducted. These tests often involve specialized handling and instruments for accurate interpretation. In dentistry, conditions like oral tumors (IHC) and infections from oronasal fistula or severe periodontal disease (bacterial cultures, antimicrobial susceptibility tests) may require advanced testing to adjust treatment plans。

Clinical diagnosis is a rigorous process, as numerous factors can contribute to symptoms (parasites, bacterial infections, viral infections, poisoning, behavioral issues, etc.). It is not possible to determine the specific disease solely based on a single photo, video, or telephone description. Therefore, when pets are unwell, it is crucial to visit the veterinary hospital for a thorough examination. Let's not make it difficult for the veterinarians!
