The tooth resorption and stomatitis of the tabby female cat (Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS) in progress).

This case of a tabby female cat was brought to the hospital in early February of this year when the owner noticed a decrease in the cat's appetite, excessive drooling, bad breath, and weight loss.
After manual instrumentation, ultrasonic dental scaling to remove calculus, dental X-rays, and a comprehensive examination of the entire oral cavity, it was discovered that the cat's left maxillary canine tooth (204) had fractured due to tooth resorption. There were residual roots causing redness and non-healing wounds in the cat's gingiva.
I used a piezosurgery to remove the residual roots without suturing the wound. The considerations for this decision were:
1.The main reason for the non-healing wound was the residual roots, and removing them would allow the wound to heal.
2.There was no sign of infection in the wound.
3.During tooth extraction, blood clots had sealed the wound. These blood clots contained natural white blood cells, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which can resist infection and promote wound healing.
During the tooth extraction process, it was also discovered that the cat had stomatitis. Therefore, Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS) was performed simultaneously.
Upon reexamination on May 28, 2020, the wound from the canine tooth had completely healed, and the MGRS treatment is still ongoing.
