Recommended article: Veterinary dentistry and oral surgery (VDOS) Consulting.
2020-05-19

My friend, Dr. Alexander M. Reiter, who is also a professor in veterinary dentistry, founded an institution for continuing education in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery called “Veterinary dentistry and oral surgery (VDOS) Consulting” (website: www.vdos.org). He invited me to write this recommendation for their educational institution, and I feel honored and delighted to do so.

The faculty at 'VDOS Consulting' includes not only the founder, Alex, and Dr. Ana Castejon-Gonzalez (Ana, my veterinary partner during our time at PennVet, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, who possesses impressive drawing skills and surgical capabilities), but also Jeanette Eliason, who serves as a registered dental hygienist (RDH) and a certified veterinary technician (CVT). The consultant for "VDOS Consulting" is Dr. Colin E. Harvey, associate professor, who played a pivotal role in establishing the dentistry and oral surgery department at PennVet. He also spearheaded the inclusion of dental hygienists into the veterinary hospital and founded the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) in the United States.

The courses offered by “VDOS Consulting” are diverse, including online seminars, hands-on workshops in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, and training for veterinary dental technicians. One particularly unique course is “Comparative Dentistry and Oral Surgery”, which explores the comparisons and connections between human and animal teeth and oral health—a subject that aligns with my current research goals at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU).

I highly recommend “VDOS Consulting” (website: www.vdos.org) to veterinarians and veterinary students interested in furthering their education in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery.
