Dr. Chung-Wei Chen says, “The gingival sulcus here are most susceptible to bacteria, leading to plaque”.

The importance of oral health for cats and dogs is no less than that of humans. This veterinary hospital claims to be the first in Asia to specialize in companion animals dentistry. A house cat had broken two canine teeth after falling from a wardrobe. Dr. Chen used dental implant technology similar to that used for humans to solve the tooth loss issue for the cat.

Dr. Chung-Wei Chen says, “The owner came in and said their cat's teeth were broken, and he asked if dental implants could be done. In the first phase, we implant a device, which is essentially an artificial tooth root, to allow it to heal (osseointegration). The next phase is to make a prosthetic tooth and attach it, which is essentially the same concept as dental implants for humans.'

Owner Ms. Jiang says, 'You might feel like it has no teeth, and its appetite changes. When you see its tongue sticking out, you may think its quality of life is getting worse, and it looks ugly.'
