Added on November 1, 2022: Successful Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS) for a 12-year-old black cat with stomatitis, resulting in recovery.

Ou-Jang is a black Mixed male cat who was 12 years old when the feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS) treatment started and 13 years old when the treatment ended.

The patient had tried half full-mouth extraction before coming to our hospital for treatment, but he was still ineffective for FCGS, the severe inflammatory reaction even caused some of the extraction wounds to fail to heal and the alveolar bone was exposed ,and the weight dropped to 3.6 kg.

After starting the Mucogingival Replacement Surgery (MGRS), Ou-Jang’s appetite improved significantly and the body weight increased significantly. After 1 year of MGRS, we healed his FCGS and saved the remaining teeth, the exposed alveolar bone healed well, the appetite has improved, the quality of life is good, and body weight has increased to 4.75 kg.
